March #jammed: Grace Revealed.
Day 72: Grace is peaceful opportunity.
There’s great hope to be witnessed in the Democracy of our nation as we peacefully transfer power from one leader to the next. It’s unique to America. I know many think it’s broken beyond repair, but I choose to see the peaceful opportunity we are privileged to partake in as Americans. For centuries, our country has worked hard at making debate an art form. We study it from a very early age, and are passionate about allowing all sides to be heard. But at the end of the day, “We the people…” are just people.
“Pride is dignity’s counterfeit. Never lose sight of that.” -Beth Moore, So Long Insecurity
All people instinctively strive for peace and love, and to coexist in a world where everyone is accepted. So, why is peace broken?
We have talents in our fingertips that can shift opinions and knowledge in our minds that can budge boundaries, but we lack authority over the human heart. A shift of the heart isn’t stirred by human hands.
We are created in the image of God. God is love. God is peace. God is above our understanding. We can follow the text He left behind for us to discover as much as He knows we can handle, but eventually it comes down to trust.
“‘Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ.’ There is nothing weak about Him. Pure, unadulterated power resting on our very shoulders.” Beth Moore, So Long Insecurity
The One who IS peace can help us attain it. Wafting insecurity can keep us from following the trail Jesus blazed. He was powerfully smart, able to put politicians in their place and perform miracles …yet simultaneously remain humble, kind, and humorous. The mask of seriousness is unnecessary. Scary news feeds and hyperbolic defensiveness give the devil a platform to pry us a part. His intent is to make as big of a mess as we’ll let him until his imminent loss comes to fruition.
Love is accomplished by the power of the One who died to give us the opportunity for peace.
Father, Politics is exhausting to some of us, but fascinating to others. Praise You for the systems in place in the world that aim to keep peace. Thank You for Jesus …the whole reason we have any chance for peace at all. Forgive us for trying to solve problems that are too big for us …and without consulting You first. Bless our country, and the world, as all people seek peace from the very real evil that surrounds. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Happy Politic-ing,
Megs
