March #jammed: Grace Revealed.
Day 85: It will remind you.
Someone once said that the soundtrack we listen to seeps into our very souls. From miles away, there’s a special church that lit a fire in my heart. A pastor who motivates like a coach …a Jesus coach. And for hundreds of miles of marathon training I listened to him yell about a lot of things. I ran to the rhythm of series after series. Little did I know then that I wasn’t only training for a marathon …or that I wouldn’t even make the start of my race.
The rush of a spiritual high can leave us ready to go anywhere but not sure exactly where to go. When the start of the marathon came and went without me, I began to ask God what that was all about? Why bring me all those miles? Why was I able to run all that way?
When things don’t go how we thought God said they would, it’s confusing. I prayed about moving, but He didn’t answer. I sat in church …and then realized that maybe what I had been listening to was preparing me to be right here.
“Lean on God’s people.” Max Lucado, You’ll Get Through This
In that season of my life, I learned why a friend had been brought into my life all those years ago …bonded over running. As I spoke to her, I could feel God move. I felt Him affirm my calling to stay …for now.
When we’re open to God’s plan, the possibilities are endless.
Father, You are faithful to listen and patient to speak. Thank You for answering my prayers, and thank You for friends and pastors. I confess the desire to run away with my plans, but Your plan for me is here …for now, and I pray You bless me with the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to smile big. In Jesus Name, Amen.
