Day 58 The correct directions.

Every word of God proves true.
    He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.” Proverbs 30:5post-image-58

“How long do I cook the popcorn for?”

Sometimes, my husband asks questions that I can’t resist having a laugh over.

“Um … press the “popcorn” button, and then press “start.” I replied sarcastically. Oh, so sarcastically. Sarcasm is my favorite.

“Ha. Ha,” he replied,“the bag says not to use the popcorn button.”

Is that not God telling me to shut my sarcastic little mouth? I told you, He’s funny.

Life is hardly ever black and white. In an over marketed society, our attention is diverted several ways toward the same subject. Simple things suddenly frustrate us. To avoid overcomplicating life’s answers, turn to unmovable truth: God’s Word.

 Every word of God will be put to the test and proven true;

    He is a defense for those who trust in Him.” Proverbs 30:5 (VOICE)

The author the book of Proverbs was King Solomon, “and other wise men.” (NIV Study Bible Notes) One of these wise men, Agur, wrote today’s verse.

“He turned his listeners away from his own wisdom and advocated that they heed the ‘word of God [which] is flawless’ (Prov. 30:5).” New International Encyclopedia of Bible Characters

We were not meant to function on human intelligence, but made to hang in the balance of His every Word.

jammed-tweet-blueFather, Praise You for knowledge, and the quest of it! Thank You for creating a world that cannot be fully known in one human lifetime. Forgive us for blindly believing things that intend to lead us astray, and bless us with faith strong enough to believe what cannot be seen or explained. In Jesus Name, Amen.

    Great reminder! I was talking to a friend about books that we’ve been reading (her one on Scientology and me a biography of Jim Jones) and the summary of our conversation was–how can logical, educated, intelligent people buy this stuff? I think it’s because we all want something tangible to beleive in–and we start believing in people rather than Jesus.
