August #jammed: Reflecting on Grace.

Day 237: Stories are treasures.

May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. August 25

Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.” Galatians 1:3-4

“See you later, alligator….”

At the sound of those story time ending words, little feet padded up to the felt board and stuck the alligator on to wait for his friends.

“Bye, bye, said the fly….” and up when another set of feet, holding the fly in hand.

Storytime at the library is precious time I will never regret carving out of my very first mom-days. Books are a universal. All of life revolves around one Book.

Today’s verse talks about the evil world. I can’t imagine how much more evil it could have been back then compared to what it is now. Yet, when we walk with Christ …though we know we’re immersed in an dangerous millennium, we are able to see Light in all things.

Like the little kids huddled around the librarians at story time, waiting for their turn to walk up proudly and stick their contribution onto the felt board …Christians walk to the ones He needs to love.

The world has a lot of evil in it, but I don’t believe the whole world is evil. I can’t know what I know about God and experience Christ like I have in my life …felt the Holy Spirit move as I have …and believe the whole world is evil.

After everything God created, He declared it “good,” and I believe with all of my heart that the “good” He declared can be seen through His Son.

“Let the little children come to me,” Jesus said.

No wonder. Sitting in a circle with little people reminds us why we are called to have a childlike faith. There is good in everyone, and beauty in everything God created. But we have to believe to see it.

Father, Praise You for innocence. Thank You for children, for they remind us to have faith like a child. Forgive us for letting cynical thinking exploit the very real evil in the world over the beauty of God’s creation. Help us to be stronger in faith, and to believe enough to see the good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
