March #jammed: Grace Revealed.
Day 89: A time to lose it.
“Through this man we all receive gifts of grace beyond our imagination.” John 1:16 (VOICE)
Cackling and giggling and little bit of drool rolling down a smiling cheek consumed the silence of my car. Yet another morning listening to my kids come completely unraveled as we roll down the road. The start of the day is just as challenging as it’s end, as that same cackling and slap-sillieness drifts down the stairs as the bedtime routine upholds its epic struggle. 8 o’clock, no matter which way the clock arm swings, is the magic button of madness around here.
“Dare to walk the high road with Me, for it is the most direct route to heaven.” Sarah Young, Jesus Calling.
Today’s verse reminds us how sweet Jesus is, to come here as a man, and bless us beyond our wildest dreams.
No matter how frustrating, the laughter is contagious. Which is even more infuriating when trying to instill discipline and order. It has it’s place, but I believe God designed the giggle attack to remind us how overrated our systems of control are, alert us to lighten up, and catch us before we fall over the edge of parental sanity.
Father, Praise You for giggle attacks and thank You for silly hours. Forgive us for trying to shut them down on account of our own disciplinary motives, and bless our hearts to join in the laughter. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Do your kids do this too? What hour is ‘silly hour’ in your house? Get the conversation started by commenting below, and let’s encourage one another as we face life in 2017 armed with grace!
