Day 303: Beyond what we can earn.

““Be still, and know that I am God!
    I will be honored by every nation.
    I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:10 

What’s that doing in here?

I though it was lost. Hadn’t been able to find it in years. In the dusty depths of my basement’s abandoned corner of clutter and inside a rusted out filing cabinet was my Varsity letter, sitting on top of my favorite quote from a most admired coach. It was a letter I never felt I fully deserved. The caliber of people and athletes that surrounded me would affect my life from the day I stepped on that campus. There was something so much more than the pursuit of an education or even a running career that I was drew me there. And it changed my life forever.

In today’s verse, God is assuring us that He will be honored by every nation …throughout the world.

Be still. Here, the Hebrew for this phrase probably means “Enough!” NIV Study Bible Notes.

“Enough!” is what we all need to tell ourselves when we discount ourselves of worthiness. Of a Varsity letter, of another’s company, of our God-given gifts, and of His worthiness. He calls us worthy.

God’s mighty acts on behalf of his people will bring him universal recognition …This has proven to be supremely true of God’s climactic saving act in the birth, life, death, resurrection and glorification of Jesus Christ—yet to be brought to complete fruition at his return. -NIV Study Bible Notes

What was needed to be worthy has already been done. Jesus conquered our debt on the cross. And when He returns for us … “Enough!” it will be.

Father, Praise You for this powerful reminder that we are enough. Thank You for calling us worthy. Forgive us for looking around and trying to pick out who we think may not be, and bless us to spread Your love and compassion to all, throughout all of the days of our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
