January #jammed : Grace in Life’s Face
Day 27: When Heaven Feels Close.
“David kissed Absalom and welcomed him back into his good graces.” 2Samuel 14:33b (VOICE)
Did anyone get a chance to see the big moon this past year? It was amazing to see something that we know is very far away appear to be so close! Sin can creep up on us like that. Something seemingly harmless can tear a heart a apart.
“The Bible views sins more as cancer cells. One or two hear and there do make a difference- often the difference between life and death. Because cancer cells grow, multiply and take over, major surgery may be needed to save your life.” NIV Student Bible Study Notes
David lived the consequence of sin. David’s affair with a married woman, and the consequential murder of her husband, plagued him all the way to His own son’s death. But God did not forsake him.
Sin doesn’t leave upon our salvation’s arrival. The devil doesn’t stop prodding us when we commit our lives to Christ. The world doesn’t become pain free, and we’re not guaranteed to be prosperous.
We are guaranteed grace. Though heaven is far away, God’s Spirit is close.
Though we suffer the sin and brokenness of this world, it doesn’t win in the end. Jesus died to stop the cancer of sin from spreading. God’s grace never leaves us, even when the pain of this world remains. #greatfaith
