February #jammed: Dunked in Grace
Day 56 It’s there.
“I have hidden your word in my heart…” Psalm 119:11a
Living in a four-season state means I lose a lot of sunglasses. I need them in the summer, and stash them everywhere. As I grab for a pair of gloves in the winter, out pop my sunglass from the glove compartment. But on a sunny southern break from the chill, out pop nothing but gloves.
Thankfully, grace doesn’t work like that. When we’re dunked in grace, it’s there for all seasons. We may put it on the back burner of our lives, but it’s presence in our hearts never fades. The benefit of tapping into it on a daily basis is to know where it is when we need it.
Daily time in God’s Word stashes grace in our hearts for the blinding or chilly days.
The second half of today’s verse builds upon the importance of spending time daily in God’s Word.
“I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11
We are surrounded by choices and changing climates, regardless of location. To be sure we’re not grabbing for our sunglasses when we need our gloves, God’s Living Word exists to equip us according to the number of our days. God has a way of sweetly preparing our hearts for things we’re about to go through …if we let Him. Five minutes with Him each morning has the potential to prepare us to run life’s race …well.
Father, You are faithful to speak to us and prepare us through Your Word. Praise You, for leaving it behind for us to find. We confess our rush past Your life-giving words, and pray for forgiveness. Bless our hearts to crave Your Word, and hide in our hearts to prepare us for all of our days. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
