October #jammed: Free Grace.

Day 278: Sweet tooth for grace.

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NLT

Sugary dust remained at the end of another box of sour and sweet candy day 278tarts. As I write, wait, read, cook, or clean …I like to pop a little sugary snack. I recognize it’s a destructive habit to my teeth and I’m sure like everything else we eat …my stomach. But ever since my little childhood legs could pedal back up the two-mile hill to my house from the convenient store with a bag full of candy …I’ve been snacking on sweetness that I have stashed all over the place.

Today’s verse reminds me of the sweetness God stashes in the corners of my mind and the pockets of my life. In blessings, family, sunrises, and smiles …friends, church, and verses. He litters our lives with sweetness. Like sugary candy, once we get a taste of how sweet and satisfying God’s Living Word is, we crave it more and more.

“God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches….”

Not the left-overs. Not the brussel sprouts. The sweet candy. The good stuff. The stuff we usually have to earn and don’t think we deserve. Then unnecessary blessings and rich goodness that makes life masterful and meaningful.

“which has been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

And that’s how we open the box, peel back the wrapper, and start to taste what Paul is talking about. When we believe in Jesus. It’s through Christ that we taste the sweetness that God has stored up for us to unveil as we walk step by step with His Son in holiness until we arrive home in heaven.

#jammed click to tweet jun:jul:augFather, Praise You for heaven, and for the promise that we will arrive there one day on the heals of Your Son. Thank You for Jesus, for the cross, and for grace. Forgive us our sins, Lord, and restore us to Your presence today. Bless our lives and move the into the light of Your sweetness. Your underserved grace. Soften our hearts to receive it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
