January #jammed : Grace in Life’s Face

Day 1: Let’s Embrace Grace in Fleeting Minutes.

“May God give you grace and peace.” 1Thes. 1:1b (NLT)

Life runs short of breath unless we embrace grace in the process.day-1

My daughters captured the rapid passing of time as they checked the accuracy of their new watches every thirty seconds.

“Has another minute gone by already?” I sighed to myself, remiss of the backfired plan to encourage a little independence.

All I really wanted was to cut down on their sloth-ness and my need to holler as we get ready to go somewhere …anywhere …and never on time. A great way to exude grace is to be on time without yelling at my kids …right?

My girls suddenly realize how fast time slips away, but I’ve known all along.

“God’s amazing grace be with you!” 1Thes 1:1b (MSG)

Amazing. Yes! Give me that, please! And, now!

God whispered a sarcastic little bug into my ear …”I am.”

Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you.” 1Thes.1:1b (NIV)

“In” God the Father. That’s important, because it “indicates the vital union and living relationship that Christians have with the Father and the Son.” (NIV Study Bible Notes)

Jesus walked on earth to conquer the separation between God and His people forever, at the time God carefully crafted. We strive, not realizing what He’s always known.

Grace …God’s slow steps of holiness being perfected over a lifetime, like watching the ice melt into the Great Lake every Spring. It didn’t freeze overnight, nor will it be navigable at the first sign of sixty degrees. With Jesus as our Savior, painful and trepidous seasons of growth are laced with as much grace as celebratory milestones.

Father, You are love. Your love falls on us through Your grace. Your grace seeps into the cracks of our hearts through Jesus. Praise you for your Son, and His sacrifice on the cross that granted us peace in Your presence, forever. Forgive us, Father, for we doubt, worry, and hurry through life. Bless us with the ability to embrace Your grace in our everyday lives. In Jesus Name, Amen.
