February #jammed: Dunked in Grace

Day 54: Grace is good, all the way.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1post-image-53

“Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic, but I had a good life, all of the way.” -He Went to Paris, Jimmy Buffett

The best gift grace has to offer is joy in the journey. When we’ve reached the destinations that we want to see in life, witnessed longed-for events, and accomplished pieces of our dreams, what will the looking-back trail tell?

The magic of life is the unexplainably miraculous. Healing, accomplishment, blessings, discoveries. The tragic is the all-to-familiar nightly news real of cancer realities and cruel fatalities, dreams stolen and lives destroyed.

The reel of our life’s vacations and first borns will play alongside the diseased diagnosis and the tragic loss that forever shifted perspective. Behind every highlight, good stands firm …unmovable. Because, as today’s verse reminds us, God is good. And God can’t be removed from any situation. He created everything, and everyone of us. Sin may hurt, but God never leaves.

We can choose to see the good or we can bask in the bad. We can walk with Jesus or let the devil’s foothold snatch us. The choice in direction is ours, because He is good. God is not a dictator, but a loving Father. Through all the good choices and really bad ones, His love never falters, fades, or leaves. He waits, patiently, hoping we’ll choose to swim through a life of grace. The life that the cross allows in the face of sin. It doesn’t change humanity’s DNA, but captures our soul’s spot in painless eternity with Him.

jammed-tweet-blueFather, We praise You for Your perfect love. Thank you for letting us choose grace, because in Your perfect ways, You want us to want to love You back. We confess the times we spend in the dark, and pray that You bless us with many bright days on this earth until we hug You in heaven. In Jesus Name, Amen.
