January #jammed : Grace in Life’s Face
Day 29
“GIRLS,” I beckoned, “SLOW DOWN.”
Who knew that walking my daughters would be harder than walking my dog. It is.
“Can we turn around?”
My youngest daughter hates walking …anywhere …for any length of time.
“Can I hold her leash?”
What seems like a helpful gesture ends in her dropping the leash and me chasing the dog. Or, the dog pulling her over. Or, they both run too far ahead.
It’s not relaxing at all. There’s nothing relaxing about it. Which is why I’m so thankful I’m a morning person. I sneak out of the house, dog in tow, before a creature is stirring.
Today’s verse is of great comfort to us. Whether we’re good at it, find it painful, run away, or drop the leash, God encourages us to keep walking. He is faithful to forgive our missteps, when we ask Him to in faith. Jesus didn’t require our perfect lives as payment before He laid down His. The mess we own is a product of God’s love.
Father, Praise You for walking with us through life. Thank you for compassionately guiding the way, and leaving Your Word behind as a lamp to our feet. We confess getting wrapped up in frustration, and pray that you will guide us in all of our steps. In Jesus Name, Amen.
