Hi! I'm Meg! It's great to meet you! Let's unlock the joy to found in everyday life, together!

Meet Meg

May #jammed: Growing Grace.

Day 121: It’s in the book.

Because true pleasure will be yours by learning them, living them,
and being ready to repeat them to others.” Proverbs 22:18 (VOICE)

Life overlooks the quiet ones, sometimes. The ones who love to curl up with a good book. image-121The people that can never quench their thirst to learn, and love the challenge growth provides. Although I love to read, I’ve never been quiet. Can’t bite my tongue, even when I should.

Today’s verse introduces The Words of Wisdom, a section of the book of Proverbs. It lists the benefit of God’s wisdom. Life’s puzzle starts to fit together better when we begin to read what He has to say about it. The more we read, the more we know, indeed.

“They encourage the student to memorize the sayings so that they might be a guide for responding to questions. The students were to know their homework and trust in Yahweh to succeed. The following sayings are molded on the thirty sayings of the Egyptian Amen-em-Opet.” Asbury Bible Commentary

I’ve never been good at remembering the details of conversations …or that they happened in general. I recently  told someone it was “nice to finally meet you,” and they corrected me that we’d met before. I’m not good at memorizing Scripture, either, but I’m trying. #recall12

“True wisdom may bring material reward but its value far exceeds earthly riches. To those who receive it, it opens a path to life and security and equips for leadership and right conduct …It touches the whole person: In Hebrew, the “heart” represents the centre of human personality.”  Dictionary of Bible Themes

I won’t give up because I know it’s valuable. I’ve seen the fruits of time spent in the Word and with God in prayer. My life is a testimony of Jesus taking my hand and guiding me back through lessons I forget about. When we refer to His Word over our scrambled solutions, we experience peace. “True pleasure,” is not found in many words, it’s found in His.

The next thirty days of #jammed, we’ll explore The Words of the Wise. Growing in grace requires an accumulation of wisdom. Christian faith isn’t based on what we do, but what we do is affected by the growth we experience through the wisdom of God’s Word.

jammed-click-to-tweetFather, Praise You for this section of Proverbs, that reminds us of Your wisdom and how to apply it to our lives. Thank You for Your patience, and that You listen to us as we scramble past Your solutions. Forgive us, and bless us with an ear that hears You loudest. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
